Mesa Holistic Dentist

Mesa holistic dentist care for the total bodyDrs. Lee and Heaton take a holistic approach to dentistry that incorporates your entire well-being into the care you receive. They understand that substances placed in your mouth have the potential to affect your body.

You can trust Desert Family Dental to address each one of your concerns and take them seriously. Our office has a reputation of being sensitive to these holistic issues, and students from the nearby Southwest College of Naturopathic Medicine & Health Sciences in Tempe are now coming to us for their holistic dentistry needs.

Holistic Dentistry Options

Dentists have been placing sliver amalgam fillings in patients since the mid-1800's. Amalgam filling materials contain mercury. Even though the American Dental Association has declared that amalgam fillings are safe, some people are concerned about the potential health risks.

We understand your concern and that is why we choose to be a mercury-free dentist. Today there is an excellent alternative available to fill cavities. Composite fillings require less drilling which means less of your natural tooth has to be removed. Other benefits include less sensitivity, a direct bond to seal your tooth, and they are tooth-colored so they look completely natural.

Sometimes patients are concerned over amalgam fillings that they already have in their mouth. If you are one of them, holistic dentists Drs. Lee and Heaton offer sanitary amalgam removal. We utilize safe removal techniques that prevent exposure to any of the debris that may contain mercury. The tooth is isolated and an alternate breathing source is used to ensure your safety. There is no risk of you breathing in or swallowing any of the harmful substance.

Root Canal Treatments

We do use gutta percha filling materials and conventional root canal sealer cement for root canal treatments. We feel that there is no good substitute that gives the patient long-term success for this treatment.
